Panasonic is warning customers of its Toughbook line of tablet computers of a faulty battery pack that could overheat to the point of ignition.
The issue is with battery packs included in the Toughbook CF-H2 tablet PC series manufactured from June 2011 through May 2012, as well as those sold as accessories or used as replacements during servicing.
Panasonic is of course replacing the packs free of charge. Here's how they said to check if your Toughbook is one of those effected:
Check if the label on the tablet shows "Panasonic CF-H2" — if it does, turn off the device and remove the battery.
In addition, check the battery pack model number and manufacturing lot number, as only packs showing both numbers need to be replaced.
