Business : Pour Google, l’avenir c’est de la publicité diffusée sur n’importe quel appareil connecté, qu’il s’agisse par exemple d’une voiture, d’un réfrigérateur ou d’un thermostat. La philosophie de Google : la publicité au bon moment, à la bonne personne et quel que soit le terminal.


Google tire ses recettes publicitaires des annonces diffusées auprès des internautes. Mais à l’avenir, le géant pourrait bien étendre ses services de publicité à de nombreux autres terminaux connectés.
C’est en substance ce qu’explique Google dans une lettre communiquée en décembre à la SEC, le régulateur de la finance aux Etats-Unis.

« Par exemple, pour n’en citer que quelques-uns, d’ici quelques années, nous et d’autres entreprises pourrions servir de la publicité et d’autres contenus sur des réfrigérateurs, des tableaux de bord de voiture, des thermostats, lunettes et des montres » indique ainsi Google.
Ces différents terminaux, Google y a déjà accès grâce notamment à des alliances passées avec des constructeurs comme Audi et Generals Motors. En début d’année, la firme de Mountain View a déboursé 3,2 milliards de dollars pour racheter Nest, fabricant de thermostats intelligents. Et Android (via Android Wear) devrait permettre à Google de pénétrer d’autres marchés encore.
Si Google ne garantit pas - et l'exclut même au sujet de Nest - qu’il diffusera effectivement de la publicité sur ces différents appareils connectés (dès lors qu'ils sont associés au processus d'achat), elle assure en revanche que les messages seront diffusés précisément au bon moment, et de manière pertinente.
