Sony launches Xperia XZ1, Xperia XZ1 Compact and Xperia XA1 Plus at IFA


Sony has just two new additions to its Xperia XZ flagship family at the IFA 2017. The smartphones are Xperia XZ1 and Xperia XZ1 Compact. Besides this, the company has announced another smartphone dubbed as the Xperia A1 Plus.



The rumor mill has been quite active with the aforementioned smartphones from the past few months. Interestingly, most of the speculations made about their specs and features have turned out to be true. However, we expected Sony to unveil to one more smartphone at the event. We are talking about the Xperia X1, which had appeared in leaks a countless number of times.
Anyway, let's find out about the features of the Sony Xperia XZ1, Xperia XZ1 Compact and Xperia A1 Plus.
Sony Xperia XZ1
The Xperia XZ1 features a 5.2-inch full HD HDR display. As for innards, it comes equipped with an Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor running at 2.4GHz. The memory aspect is taken care of by 4GB of RAM and 64GB of inbuilt storage space.
On the optics front, there lies a 19MP Motion Eye sensor at its rear and a 13MP front-facing selfie shooter. The device packs a 2,700mAH battery for keeping the lights on.
Connectivity suite of the Sony Xperia XZ1 offers support for Bluetooth 5.0, USB 3.1, Type-C 1.0 reversible connector, USB Host. Xperia XZ1 offers up to 1Gbps based on Gigabit Class LTE Cat16, depending on the margin.
Most significantly, the smartphone runs on the newly launched Android 8.0 Oreo.
A new breakthrough feature is the 3D Creator, Sony Mobile's unique in-house solution for fast and easy scanning of 3D objects. There are many playful options to enjoy with 3D Creator, such as creating an avatar for use in the camera AR effects options, setting a live wallpaper, sharing on social media with your friends as a 3D sticker, or sending to a 3D printer to make it into a memorable keepsake.
The Sony Xperia XZ1 will start shipping globally from September.
Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact
Staying true to its name, the Xperia XZ1 Compact arrives with a 4.6-inch IPS LCD display with the resolution of 720×1280 pixels. Powering the smartphone is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor clubbed with 4GB RAM and 32GB native storage capacity.



In terms of optics, it flaunts a 19MP rear-facing Motion Eye camera.The 8MP front camera is equipped with a wide-angle lens, which extends the field of view to 120 degrees.
The smartphone runs on Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box and is backed by a 2,700mAh battery. The Xperia XZ1 Compact also comes with the new 3D Creator feature.
As for connectivity, the smartphone offers up to 800Mbps based on Cat15, which will vary based on the region. There is also Bluetooth 5.0 on-borad. 
Global shipment for the Xperia XZ1 Compact will begin from September.

Sony Xperia XA1 Plus
The smartphone sports a standard 5.5-inch LCD display with the resolution of 1,920×1,080 pixels. Under its hood, the phone is powered by an Octa-core MediaTek Helio P20 processor.
The chipset is clubbed with 3GB of RAM. Storage-wise, the Sony Xperia XA1 Plus offers 32GB of native storage space, which can be further expanded.
On the optics front, the smartphone features a 23MP rear-facing main camera as well as a 5MP selfie camera at the front. Both the cameras are equipped with f/2 aperture size and wide-angle lens.
As for the software, the device comes pre-installed with Android Nougat, which should be later updated to Android 8.0 Oreo.
Talking about the battery aspect, the Xperia XA1 Plus packs a 3,430mAh battery. It is worth noting, this battery is the largest ever battery unit used in a Sony smartphone.
