Samsung Galaxy Note 4 'going metallic and bendy in a premium version'

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 'going metallic and bendy in a premium version'

Flexible display and camera specs crop up again

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 'going metallic and bendy in a premium version'
Samsung might be reserving the best for the prime Note 4
It sounds like Samsung's packing a lot of tech into the Galaxy Note 4, but some of that may be reserved for a second premium version of the handset.
Word from Korean media source ET News is that Samsung is working on a prime version of the Note 4 and is pumping a load of materials such as stainless steel, aluminium and magnesium into the device.
Word of that flexible display has also popped up again. However, this could be limited to the premium model too, meaning the standard Note 4 handset will keep things flat for now - but if true, would really be the start of flexible phones entering the mainstream.

Bendy and beautiful

Samsung dabbled with flexibility screens with the Galaxy Round, and the new report states that Samsung has upped its flexible display capacity by 50% for the Note 4.
Finally, we're hearing that the Galaxy Note 4's camera will arrive with optical image stabilisation. That camera is also believed to be a 16MP affair, keeping the Note 4 a pretty decent snapper by the sounds of it.
The sad fact is that it's likely this separate version will, like the Round, be limited to Samsung's home turf in South Korea for now, unless it finally thinks the public is ready for bendable phones (which seems unlikely, given the current versions have hardly ripped through the sales charts).
IFA 2014 kicks off in Berlin on September 5, and we'll be there to bring you all the news as it breaks.

New Philips phone with 8MP camera visits TENAA

New Philips phone with 8MP camera visits TENAA A Philips smartphone bearing the model number S310X has just been certified by Chinese regulatory authority TENAA. So we assume that the company will first release the smartphone in China. Looking at the TENAA listing, the Philips S310X comes with not so impressive specs. It is listed with 1GB, 2GB and 3GB of RAM for the memory capacity. So most probably, the smartphone will come in three different memory variants. There is another possibility that Philips has not yet decided which amount of RAM would be used. In addition, the Philips phone would be available in three different storage variants as well. The basic version with 8GB, another with 16GB, and the highest one with 32GB of native storage space. So presumably, the Philips S310X will have three variations of this device with the 8GB model corresponding to the 1GB RAM variant, while the 16GB model corresponds to the 2GB RAM variant and the 32GB model corresponds to the 3G...
